… until the finale brought in a sudden midnight 'snow storm' that circled them - as if they were captured in a giant snow globe shaken into a flurry
Virtuoso violinist and Dunhill brand ambassador Charlie Siem led the proceedings with a shivers-down-the-spine rendition of Vaughan Williams's 'Lark Ascending', interwoven with compositions from contemporary Chinese composer Tan Dun and Icelandic band Sigur Ros
The magical holographic projection, which condensed the four seasons into one day, was built using 15,000 CGI frames, one of the longest sequences ever made
The presentation in China celebrates Dunhill's strong Asian heritage, along with the launch of its Autumn/Winter 2012 collection
Even guests’ sense of smell was catered for – fragrance house Firmenich created an aroma which evoked the natural scent of nature after the rain
After the performance, guests were invited to the stage to view the collection up close. Noteworthy pieces included classic one-button navy wool suits with peaked lapels, shearling-lined silk bombers and velvet dinner jackets

At the after-party at Alfred Dunhill 'Home' - a pair of 1920s neo-classical villas in the city's former French Concession - the brand threw a gala, peppering the event with local art showcases including paper cutting, opera painting and calligraphy (pictured)
